Kenya #3: CURE Kenya, Lake Naivasha, awesome holiday home

We visited CURE’s hospital in Kenya, the first out of CURE’s 10 hospitals around the world. It was opened in 1998. It was great to meet some of the staff and get a little tour.

We went on a boat ride on lake Naivasha to a little island where we we were able to get really close to the animals! Sean and Gabe were trying to mask themselves as animals in order to get as close as they possibly could to them. See below…

We stayed in the most amazing holiday home! It’s a South African design called Rondoval. We had a BBQ and lit a fire in the fire place at night. And then we lit it again the next morning because we enjoyed it that much!

CURE Kenya!

Getting a tour.

Hospital playground.

kids playing on the playground.

Beautiful drive to our holiday home

Ready for the boat ride on Lake Naivasha

Minor family shot

the whole gang

Sean disguising himself as a bird so that he can get closer to the zebras without them running away.

Josh and Wes had their hands in the same position like this for a really long time. At a few points, their hands were making the same motions... and in sync! I couldn't stop laughing.

Coolest holiday home!

Daybeds lined all the windows

We were all hanging out in the living room when all of a sudden we noticed Yasmin at the top of the VERY high window outside. Dania and Josh ran out and had to coax her to come down. You can see Josh's arms... he's standing on the balcony... THAT'S how high up she was!!

BBQ!

They found a cobra in the yard! The guy who takes care of the house caught it and killed it. Crazy.

Yikes!

  1. Wow! Where do I start? I love it all! The playground at the hospital looks really nice. Do you have one in Niger? Maybe Josh and Wes are long lost fraternal twins? The views look amazing. I see Yasmin has the minor streak of adventure too =) The holiday home had me packing my bags to come for a visit but yikes… a cobra?!!!

I can’t believe how big the kids are! I can’t wait to see you all! We miss you Korns and Minors!

Minors beware! With such good advertising, you’ll have everyone you know coming expecting a holiday like that. Tone it down, please! 🙂
Yes, we would come too. It looks beautiful and exotic and like childhood dreams… what a fun adventure!

Three years ago I got to go to Lake Navisha and went on that same boat ride and the walking safari that was absolutely amazing. Glad you got to go! Beautiful area!

Looks like the perfect spot for the next Narkis retreat (minus the cobra)! Would be so fun to hang out with you all in Kenya… but we’ll just have to hook up while your here in Israel this summer, Minors… and it’s awesome having you back for a while Julie! Love you guys!
